A few months back, I was asked to make Kaffe Fassett’s Diagonal Madness pattern. This quilt was made with a kit, using all of his prints to make a replica of the quilt in one of his books.
Now, I have never been a fan of Kaffe’s prints. Absolutely nothing against him. And honestly, I don’t know what it is about them that I haven’t liked, he uses so many of “my” colors. I don’t have a scrap of his fabric, and haven’t had the desire to get any.
Then I started making this quilt. Cutting each print, I decided I was liking it more and more.
Then sewn all back together. Yeah, I no longer have a thing against Kaffe prints. In fact, I found quite a few that I would like to add to my stash to incorporate into some other projects!
The backing is a subtle check. In my opinion, it compliments the squares and the craziness of the top perfectly! The binding is all scrappy from left over scraps. It is quilted with a few straight lines, just as Kaffe had done in his book.
This quilt was a joy to make (after all the cutting was finished!) and was super hard to give it away. It is so bright and cheery! I am so happy that I had the chance to make this quilt and pass the cheer onto someone else!
