::A New Year in New York::

I was opening my Christmas presents from my husband, and I opened one box that had nothing but a piece of paper inside.  That piece of paper was my itinerary for our week away in NYC: staying in Times Square, over NYE.

Our hotel was right next to that LG  sign.

No trip to NYC is complete without some Broadway shows (we saw Phantom of the Opera and Chicago, some classics!)

For all of you Project Runway fans, that’s Kooan from Season 10 cutting my fabric!

My biggest New York regret is not buying more when i was at Mood.  It was the first stop we made, and I was completely overwhelmed by both the city and being in Mood.  I did get some great knits though!

And while we were on a crafty kick, we headed over to Soho…..

….to visit Purl, and I stocked up on some pretty purple yarns.

We had thought about standing out in Times Square for the ball drop, but that only lasted an hour.  We could see it from the hotel room, and didn’t want to waste a whole day standing around, waiting.  However, around 8 we were feeling pretty lame for being in a hotel room on NYE in NYC.  We ventured outside to see what we could get into.  To our surprise, we ended up in the barricades with all the people, and a perfect view.

And we made it down in time to get all of the silly NYE favors and to catch the concerts!

The next day we went and saw the actual ball.  I’m still shocked how SMALL it is!  Those triangles are all about the size of my hand. When I took this picture, I was standing directly next to it (wish I would have stood next to it for scale!)  It always looks so much bigger on TV!

I couldn’t have asked for more out of this trip: there was lots of shopping, walking, subway riding, eating, sleeping in, we even made it on air during the Today show fourth hour.  It was a perfect vacation!

I really think that NYC is my absolute favorite city….I’m ready to go back!

How cool! Hubby did that for my birthday one year. We went in December and he had planned having our kids taken care of and everything. Husbands are pretty great sometimes, huh?

How fun! We live so far away from NYC that going there has never really come up. But I may have to rethink that. Sounds like you had a perfect time.
