Some Organization Among the Chaos

The final days of living out of a suitcase are here for my family. We will finally be moving into our new home in 3 days.  Although I must say, being on the beach is nice now that it’s in the 80s and sunny!  But as nice as it is, I am ready for our normal to return, back to chores and real life and organization and sewing.  Until then, I have a crafty post for you!

This past week I took a trip out to our local Salvation Army with my crafty gears going.  Usually I strike out, but I came across an old, outdated frame that was still in it’s plastic.  So it came home with me. Quick stop over at Michael’s on my way home for some paint and pretty paper and I was ready to go!

Meet my new family organizer!

I wish I would have gotten a picture of the frame before.  I was so excited to start painting I just jumped in.  But it was your basic oak frame to start with.  I cut 2 inch strips of 7 different scrap booking papers (one for every day of the week).  I then just taped them onto the back of the cardboard of the frame.  I didn’t paint the back since  it would be on the wall and never seen.

I plan on using this board with a dry erase marker and writing down appointments and most importantly the weekly menu.  So many times I plan out what we will have for the week, buy the food and then forget what it was I planned on making.  Not anymore!  Once I unpack my handy label maker I will make days of the week labels.  I can’t wait to find the perfect spot in my new kitchen to hang our organizer!

Great idea! I love the idea of being organized but some things just don’t work. I have a calendar that has a space for meals for meal planning – and I have used it once in the past six months. LOL
