I am so excited to share this quilt with you all! My Dad didn’t have one of my quilts yet. I was searching through fabric and design ideas. But nothing was quite right. So I decided to make what he loves. My Dad is an awesome basketball player. He played all through college (and is in his school’s hall of fame). Now he coaches and has been for almost 20 (!) years. So what better quilt than a basketball court?!
I chose 2 different brownish tones to create the “gym floor”. I pieced all of those together.
Then I decided the best way to get the markings on the court would be to applique. This was NOT my favorite part and there are a million of things I would do differently if I made this again. But it did turn out pretty awesome if I may say so myself!
For the back I had a few left over rectangles from the top so I just made two strips to piece onto the back.
I quilted it with straight lines one inch apart to give it more of a gym floor look. I used bright blue boarders, binding and backing since that was the color of UPJ (his college)
All in all I am super pleased with how this quilt turned out. I’m not going to lie, there were a few times that I thought I might just scrap it! But I kept going and did a happy dance when it was done and looked like what I had envisioned!

WOW! That is unbelievably awesome! What a great gift!
That is an amazing quilt!
