Bloggers Quilt Festival: Fall 2011

It’s that time again!!  Amy has started her fall Bloggers Quilt Festival.  I love this semi-annual event.  It’s so great to see all of the other talented bloggers and their work!

Welcome if you are stopping by from the festival, if you are one of my regular followers here is a new-old quilt.  I had a brand new quilt planned for the festival, but alas, real life got in the way.  So instead, I retook pictures of one of my favorite quilts ever. So it’s a new view of an old favorite! This past summer I joined in with Elizabeth from Don’t Call Me Betsy and her quilt along.  I usually don’t really do quilt alongs, I usually just do my own thing.  But a Kaleidoscope was one of those quilts that was on my quilting bucket list.  So what better time to get it done, this was the little push I needed to cross it off my list.  I am so glad I did it too, it turned out to be one of my favorites!

I had a nice little stash of Amy Butler’s Soul Blossoms that needed to be used up and I thought this was the perfect pattern to chop up those pretties!

The backing and binding are some Kona Solids.  I can’t remember what the color’s are.  But the back is a sea blue color that matches one of the blues in the line perfectly.  I chose a hot pink binding to really pop against that light blue and white background.  I don’t usually use a solid for binding (actually, I’ve never used a solid binding,  I’m a spotty/stripes girl) but I think this solid pink was the best choice I could have made.  I think I’ll be using some more solid bindings in the future!

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you’ll be back to see what I come up with next!  (And the finished quilt that I wanted to have done by this week!)

And if you haven’t been over to Amy’s Creative Side to check out all of the other quilts in the festival, you really should!  There are some amazingly talented people linked up!

I think it’s great and yes, the binding needed to be solid to support those pretty prints.

Your quilt is just beautiful. Those colors and fabrics are gorgeous and the binding just frames it perfectly. My BQF quilt is from that quilt a long also! It was a lot of fun to make it with a group.

  17. Mary C in WA says:

The pink pops it nicely! A printed back doesn’t show off the quilting as much- it’s a trade you have to decide which way to go.
